Terms of membership

IMPORTANT NOTE: If you are engaged in any business or profession related to real estate you must agree to become a dues-paying Business member before signing up on this site.

Business members must disclose their exact identity and company affiliation, if any, in their profile. They must carefully abide by our strict non-solicitation policy (see below).

Membership is free to buyers, sellers, renters and other consumers who have an interest in learning about or sharing information about real estate for sale and for rent, and related products and services, in the greater Chicago area.

Profile questions. A number of profile questions are reserved for Business members.  We will notify you if you answer these questions in error and request that you either a) delete your answers within 24 hours, or b) agree to become a Business  member. If you fail to comply, your account will be banned and any content you have contributed will be deleted.

A strict non-solicitation policy

We understand that members are eager to build online relationships with consumers, and engage them in conversation, in the hope of converting them to clients or customers.

We require that all members refrain from soliciting business directly in any content they post. In particular, we do not allow phone numbers, e-mail addresses, office addresses or other contact information to be included in any posted content other than the member's profile. Members may not post any content which invites another member to contact them in any fashion. A member's posted request for information should be honored by posting that information online for all members to view and comment on, rather than by soliciting the member to call or e-mail for the information.

A Business member's profile may contain detailed information about the business in which they're engaged. Any member can easily access that information if they wish to communicate directly to pursue a business relationship.

Members are prohibited from sending e-mail to other members to solicit business. They are, of course, free to respond to e-mail requests from other members.  

Our non-solicitation policy will be strictly enforced. Content that violates this policy will be deleted by the administrator and the member who posted it will be given a warning not to repeat it. Members who repeatedly violate the policy will be banned, temporarily or permanently, from participating in the network. Members need to be aware that any banning, even a temporary one, will result in the deletion of all content – all content – that the member has posted on or uploaded to the network.
